XMCOSY+ Smart Color Changing Outdoor String Lights

We love these lights! Just over a year after purchasing several bulbs lost certain colors. I reached out to customer support to see if I could purchase replacements. The company responded right away with instructions to determine the problem. It was bad cobs which control the different colors. They sent me a 15 light string for me to replace the cobs and now I have backup ones if any others should go bad. Technically I was just over the warranty period but the company stood by its product anyway. Highly recommend these lights and the company.

The lights look great and integrate well with Alexa. I like that you can manually select 2 colors in the app, as that is how I have my other lights setup, and more specifically that when selecting the colors in the app, you can use color and brightness gradients to get the exact colors and brightness you want.

The only 2 reasons I deducted 1 star is because first, after buying an additional 49 foot set to extend my first 98 foot set, the colors of the new set do not exactly match those of the original set, so all the lights at the end of the line are a different enough hue that it is noticeable. This will not be an issue if you do not plan on extending your set, but if you plan on putting more than one set together, this could be a potential issue for you.

The second reason for a slight deduction is that after 6+ months, the adapter/controller unit failed and the lights would just flash. It is worth noting that this was after being used every single night (they are set to come on every night at sundown and turn off at midnight), being used all winter, and having 3 49 foot strands daisy chained on a single adapter, so if your usage is less, you may not experience the same issue. Either way, their extremely friendly customer support responded to my email within a matter of hours and sent out a replacement for the defective part, so at least they do 100% back their product, and swapping out the adapter is easy enough to not be a bother.

Overall, I do recommend these if you are looking for RGB string lights that are far more customizable due to the app and smart functions than some of the others out there that only have a remote.

I am not one to write many reviews, but I do read the ones that others write. I thought, given my experience with the product and company, that I needed to write this one.
I bought this product last November to go in my gazebo. I live in Florida so we were still outside quite a bit during this time. The lights were very easy to put up and the directions were easy to follow. I mean how hard is it to hang a strand of lights, right? The lights looked amazing and the app was easy to use. I had experience with syncing lights wirelessly, so for me there was no issue, although I do love technology so I can understand where some might struggle with that part.
ANYWAY, fast-forward to the beginning of June, not quite even 8 months. I went on vacation and came home to my lights going through a cycle of every color and I could do nothing with them - not even the hard reset with the power button on the box. I took a chance and contacted the company on their website. They were so quick to respond! I was figuring a day or two, but dang, it was hardly an hour and they had responded via email. Asked me to send them a picture of the codes on the power box and where the lights were hanging, and sent me a replacement the next day. Great customer service is very hard to come by these days, but boy this company is Above and Beyond Amazing with theirs. I will definitely purchase lights from them again in the future, when I expand the lights out into the yard!
You will not go wrong with these lights or this company!

Lights work great. It was a little difficult getting the lights synced in the app with the wi-fi. I am having issues with setting the schedule, I can program on or off, but for some reason not both.

Just installed the lights outdoors and tested them and their XMCosy android app. The quality of the lights and cable seem very good.

The lights are bright enough however I'd like if they were able to deliver a little more brightness or maybe if they more closely spaced the lights to be every two feet instead of three. I'd gladly pay more for a set like this with more lights in the purchased length of 123 feet long.

The controlling XMCosy app was a bit challenging to link/pair to the LED light controller which is located on the light cable. I had to end up linking/pairing it 'manually' and the process was not very intuitive so I can see folks that may not be very tech savy having problems doing this as I had to. There was a function to automatically add the light set to the app but it did not work and I also received some app warning pop ups about the system only works with 2.4ghz wifi and not 5ghz wifi.

Once I had the app linked (manually) and started using it to begin testing the lights I unplugged the lights as a part of my testing process and then the app did not see or communicate with the lights anymore. I then had to once again manually link/pair the app with the light controller. This concerned me as I suspected that possibly the light controller would need to be linked/paired with the app every time the lights were unplugged or lost power. Fortunately after manually linking/pairing the app to lights controller this second time, the light app would reconnect to the light controller each time I tried unplugging the lights from a power supply. But again, this one time losing that connection would probably confuse and frustrate a less tech savy purchaser and maybe even result in a return of the lights to amazon.

As for the app and its functions, it works very well. It enables the user to create operating schedules, select any color in the color wheel, and the color's saturation level and brightness when displaying a single solid color on all the lights at the same time. It also has a pre-programmed function for a white only display for the lights to select the type of white color from pure white to a more yellow looking white to a blue white and also the brightness - this is a very nice function.

There are also eight pre-programmed light themes that do various rotating rotating colors, strobes, fades, blinking, chasing colors, etc - these are very fun and seem nice for parties, gatherings, events (including ones for Christmas and 4th of July). The one drawback to these is that the user cannot select or change any of the colors displayed on these eight pre-programmed displays - the lack of this was really disappointing and seems lacking given how great all the other features are.

Lastly, there is one pre-programmed static light display (no blinking, strobing, fading, etc) that they do let you select only two colors that are displayed alternately on each light in a sequence. It is called 'Pick 2'. I enjoyed testing this display and was able to easily dial-in the miami dolphins football team colors of aqua and orange. Too bad the other pre-programmed light displays didn't enable at least some limited ability to slect some different colors like this Pick 2 display did.

All in all this outoor-safe LED light string seems of very good quality and has plenty of remote control, scheduling and automation functions offered through the provided wifi app that seems at least during my initial testing to work great. I'll update his review over time and add how well the light set holds-up and the app and light controller, their linking/pairing, etc hold up. One final through: The fact that this light set uses only wifi instead of Bluetooth for connecting the phone app to the light controller is great for me. I suspect this wifi connection and communicating is also the preferred method for most all users but for some installs there may be no wifi and Bluetooth communication may be preferred - if this is the case for you then this light set is not for you.
